Creches Exhibit - Marian Library | Nov 28, 2008 to Nov 27, 2009

Explore how the birth of Christ is seen around the world with the Marian Library's annual display of 30 creches from its collection of more than 1,400 Nativity scenes. This year, the exhibit hlghlights a 130-piece handcarved Czechoslovakian village from the 1850s, created at a time when depictions of the Nativity were supressed. More than 80 villagers are depicted, including two government spies in disguise.

The gallery is open Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and on Saturday and Sunday by appointment.

'Betsy Damon: Keepers of the Waters' Art Exhibit | Sep 15, 2009 to Oct 23, 2009

Eco-artist and activist Betsy Damon, founder of the environmentally focused organization "Keepers of the Waters," will share her work and creative perspective of the world's most vital resource — water. Damon favors a holistic approach, encouraging audiences to consider everything from the aesthetic to the economic dimensions of water. Damon will present her work and her mission within the context of the Dayton region's watershed. An artist reception will be held on Friday, September 18, from 12 - 1 p.m.

ArtStreet is located at the intersection of Lawnview Avenue and Kiefaber Street on the University of Dayton campus. Susan Byrnes, the director of UD's ArtStreet, is the lead organizer of this new exhibition, which reflects the Dayton area's creative, innovative legacy and the diversity of its artists. It opens Friday, Oct. 2, with a reception from 5 to 10 p.m. on the third floor of the Armory Building, 201 E. Sixth St. in the Oregon Arts District downtown. It's open from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursdays and noon to 4 p.m. Saturdays through Nov. 6. The exhibition is a joint effort of faculty and staff from the University of Dayton, Wright State University, Central State University and Sinclair Community College, as well as community members and university students.

Dalcroze Eurhythmics is a powerful route towards developing deeper musicality and creative expression through whole body movement.  This remarkable approach offers teachers, musicians and performers of any age and stage the opportunity to enhance and enrich their skills.  This workshop will be led by Stephen Neely, faculty member at the Creative and Performing Arts High School and the Carnegie-Mellon University Dalcroze Summer Training Institute in Pittsburgh, PA. Professional development documentation is available for music teachers.
